The 2024 edition of Swiss documentary film festival Visions du Reel launched 29 projects in its industry section VdR-Industry. The selection of works in various stages of production was made based on the potential for artistic excellence, the strength of the subject and international appeal. The films that were selected were invited to pitch their project to professionals in the film industry during the VdR-Pitching and VdR-Work in Progress forums. Two new cash awards were introduced this year. The Eurimages Co-production Development Award was awarded to “The Last Days of the Hospital” directed by Mehran Tamadon (My Worst Enemy, Bassidji). The Xe Award, accompanied with CHF $20,000 in cash went to Salvatore of Lucan’s “Life of Tipu” which is about an Irish-Bangladeshi singer who discovers his father’s estranged son on Facebook and sets off on a journey to meet him.
